Welcome to Martins Gone Mad!

Hey there, we’re the Martins from Richmond, VA.  We ditched the “normal” lifestyle (whatever that is), downsized, bought a vintage Greyhound bus, made it into our tinyhome, and hit the road.
Billy is a Voice Actor and works from his sound studio in the bus.  You’ve probably heard him on TV I roadschool the kids.  We try to stop at every National Park, famous burger joint, or legendary dessert spot we pass.  We’ve learned a lot, met some incredible people, and seen some amazing places.
We would be honored if you’d come laugh, cry, and go MAD with us!

Aaron Franklin, of PBS fame, is THE bbq king, and his famous bbq joint is in Austin.  This was Billy’s #1 on places to visit for the entire trip.  Billy started smoking meat after watching his show and receiving Aaron’s book from yours truly last Christmas.  He may or may not keep it on his bedside table next to his bible.  We had been really bummed because their pit room suffered a fire in August, and was closed until further notice.  BUT… luck was on our side, and they reopened the Tuesday before Thanksgiving!!

Galveston, Oh Galveston…

Crystal Beach is on the Bolivar Peninsula, which is northeast of Galveston.  We actually had to take a ferry to get there, but it was really fun, and free!  You just drive onto the boat, and then you can get out if you want while it’s taking you across.  The seagulls know what’s up and they’re all over it.
